A study for Catholic Tamatsukuri Church (2)While in Europe, Insho visited many cathedrals and chapels and viewed numerous Christian paintings. From this experience, he came to believe that there could be a Japanese image of the Holy Mother for Japan. As a result, Saint Mary clad in a Momoyama-era kimono came into being.
