Max Wislicenus was a famous painter associated with the Art Nouveau. In the years 1916-1918 he was the director of the Wrocław Academy of Fine Arts and, together with the architect Hans Poelzig, he was responsible for modernizing the teaching program. This painting was created after Wislicenus' retirement and he will go to Dresden. It presents the avant-garde dancer Rosalia Chladek right after her artistic debut. The dancer was very successful and was an important figure in the world of stage dance in Europe. Wislicenus has created a whole series of paintings devoted to this subject.
