Paniyara (Water pitcher storage)

Earthen pots, unlike metal pots, are porous thereby allowing small quantities of water to seep out. A small spout is incorporated into the ledge that allows the excess water to drip down into a bowl placed on a smaller ledge at a lower height. The collected water is reused for other domestic purposes.
