The scene here is of women stripping the feathers of geese to make mattresses and bedding. They are working together in a convent. After being stripped, the feathers are shown being stored in earthenware jars. No one is exempt from this dirty and dusty task as you can see by the old woman on the far left, whose dark glasses indicate she may have been blind or near blind. You can also see the smaller feathers floating through the air while longer feathers are scattered on the floor beneath the table. The longer feathers would have been saved to make ink quills for writing.
