Nick says: "It was a very powerful source image so I painted in a bold, powerful way with a big brush & thick, impasto oil paint. I wanted to avoid producing a sentimental or melodramatic painting, but rather capture the raw emotional content of the image."

Dr. Salman says: "I have shielded myself from my youngest daughter who is asthmatic and I have missed her birthday. I guess seeing her through a screen or a window is better than seeing her on life support. I thought that this pic will be more moving and paint a more realistic story."
