    SPINNING A YARN...... 12.1.1965. DOG BREEDER MISS EVE CHERRY OF AYTON ROAD, IRTON NEAR SCARBOROUGH, HAS FOUND A USE FOR SPARE POODLE HAIR. EACH TIME SHE COMBS THE MAGNIFICENT COAT OF HER 70 POUND WHITE POODLE "MARCUS" WHO LOOKS LIKE LENNIE THE LION, SHE SAVES THE HAIR......AND LATER ON A SWEDISH SPINNING WHEEL SPINS IT INTO YARN TO MAKE SCARVES, GLOVES BEDSOCKS AND EVEN EVENING DRESS STOLES. MISS CHERRY, WHO BREEDS CHIHUAHUAS, HAS EVEN SPUN YARN FROM THE SPARE COAT HAIR OF THESE TINY DOGS. THE AUTHOR OF AN AUTHORITATIVE BOOK ON HANDWEAVING SHE SAYS " I FOUND THAT POODLE WOOL WAS EVEN BETTER THAN MANY OTHER FIBRES TO TURN INTO YARN. IT HAS SUCH A SOFT FINISH. I SPIN WHILE WATCHING TELEVISION. IT'S INTRIGUING". SAID 25-YEAR-OLD BLONDE-HAIRED BUNTY RUFFELL OF SCARBOROUGH, WEARING ONE OF MISS CHERRY'S STOLES, "NO MORE EXPENSE OF WINTER WOLLIES NOW.
