Louis Bosa immigrated to the United States in 1923. After building a distinguished career in New York City as an artist, he purchased a cabin in Upper Black Eddy, Bucks County, during the 1930s. Unable to attend his mother’s funeral in Codroipo, Italy, Bosa painted this imaginary rendition of the funeral procession, in which he includes himself as an observer from one of the windows in the background. The artist’s daughter, Anna Bosa Mulligan, gave this painting to the museum.
