Trompe L'Oeil Dress

The 20th anniversary of the house, with over two decades and forty collections, was celebrated in Martin Margiela’s Summer 2009 collection. The show reunited highlights from 20 years of creations. This dress is made from a rectangle of cotton, printed with the depiction of a Maison Martin Margiela blazer. As such, the dress celebrates Margiela’s frequent use of trompe l’oeil, not only in the garments, but also in the house’s photography and decoration of office and store interiors.
