Bull Herman

Herman was an ordinary bull except that he had an extra piece of DNA. The extra gene should have ensured that Herman's daughters would produce the human protein lactoferrin. This protein is used as a medicine against inflammations. Unfortunately, the gene in Herman did not yet function properly. His daughters produced too little lactoferrin in their milk. Later, as a result of improved techniques, genetically modified cows were produced in which the gene did work well.
