The sea god Neptune stands proud as a king on this bronze model of the Neptune Fountain designed by sculptor Georg Schweigger and goldsmith Christoph Ritter for Nuremberg's Main Market Square. Immediately after its completion in 1668, the fountain was stored away in the municipal construction yard, and later it was sold to Russian Tsar Paul I. Today a reproduction of the fountain, donated in 1902 by Jewish hops wholesaler Ludwig Ritter von Gerngross, stands in the city's Stadtpark.
