An alcove is an integral part of the architecture across Haryana because of its versatile use. Shutters are not provided to have easy access to objects and items stored in it. If an alcove needs to be visually covered, the family would cover it with a curtain as seen in this example. The curtain would be opened while cooking and drawn during other times.
