MAKING UP FOR LOST TIME.
MJH/MAE.
The continuous rain in the West Country has seriously delayed the ploughing programme to prepare the ground for Spring corn and very little winter seed planting has been possible. In these circumstances, the fullest possible advantage has to be taken of any fine day and when the rain held up recently, four Fordson Majors were put to work on 40 acres of ground on Lord Vestey's estate at Stowell Park (Gloucestershire)
in an attempt to catch up on some of the work lost during the past weeks.
PHOTOGRAPH SHOWS: A general view of these scenes at Stowell Park (Gloucestershire) as Lord Vestey's 4-man ploughing team sets to work as the rain stops. The tractor drivers, two pairs of brothers are (left to right) JIM HICKS: PETER HANKS: DENNIS HANKS: and PETER HICKS.
