Aekjureum was one of the daily wear for men until the mid-Joseon period. The name itself indicates the gathers under the armpit, and these gathers for the ease of movement is the characteristic of Aekjureum. This double layered Aekjureum is made of dark bluish satin, and lined with off-white silk tabby. It is suggested that the coat was for horse ridings, based on the length different of the front and back panels.
