Portrait of the Countess of Chinchon

This painting has been in the Uffizi Gallery since 1972. It was part of a series of portraits commissioned to Goya, the most important Spanish painter of the 18th century, by Don Luis de Borbon, the father of the sitter as well as the artist's patron. The Countess, who wears a soft and elegant dress of turtledove color veined in rose, turns her delicate and yielding gaze to the viewer.
