Advertising fan with wooden sticks, the guards stamped ‘Red Star Line’ on one side and ‘Antwerp/New York’ on the other.

The double paper leaf is printed on the recto with a monochrome blue lithograph of a portside scene with fisherfolk watching a liner out at sea; after a design by Henri Cassiers.
The verso is printed in colour with swirling American flags and the flag of the Red Star Line in the centre.

Cassiers, H. (Belgian, 1858 – 1944)
Artist (primarily a watercolourist) who created designs for posters, book illustrations, postcards and menus. His style was figurative and illustrative and his works often featured picturesque views of rural life, peasants, fishermen and regional dress..
