Necklaces such as this, combined with cross-shaped or other pendants, were part of the traditional women’s costume amongst the Hutsuls. Opulently decorated brass objects including jewellery, pistol grips or ceremonial axes, for example, are seen as typical for the Hutsul arts and crafts of the past, nowadays also put to touristic uses.
