Pavlova, the famous economical project of Brzostowski, was destroyed by the Russian troops in 1794 and Brzostowski himself decided to leave abroad, to Saxony and Italy. There he commissioned works of arts commemorating the Republic of Pavlova. Fabre's painting is one of this works.
