The Pilanesberg, North West

Set in the eroded remains of an ancient volcano, the Pilanesberg offers a dramatic landscape which supports a wide variety of plants, animals and birds. The park contains all of the "Big 5" - elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and rhino. It also contains African wild dogs, brown hyenas (or ‘strandwolf’ in Afrikaans) and sable antelope – all 3 of which are endangered.
