This exceptionally lifelike portrait is of the painter’s teenage daughter, Bianca, who was the model for several of his paintings from the early 1920s and who died, at only 27 years of age, in 1934. The elongated vertical format of the canvas, which dates from 1923, is similar to that of another portrait of Bianca, in evening dress, dating from 1924 and conserved at the Museo Bocchi in Parma.
