The first edition of one of the first textbooks commissioned by the Society for Elementary Books as part of the reforms of the Commission of the National Education. Work by the Swiss mathematician Simon Antoine Jean L’Huillier. This work was translated from French by the mathematician and Bishop of Krakow, Andrzej Gawroński, who thus became a co-creator of Polish mathematical terminology.
