Cosmic Cavern #31

An interactive art installation that transforms two spaces at the old Matarazzo Hospital. Cosmic Cavern #31 is a neon grotto entirely clad with recyclable plastic materials (toys, plates, cups, keyboards), all painted with loud fluorescent colours, creating a surreal atmosphere. A friend and former housemate of Keith Haring, Scharf featured in the documentary The Universe of Keith Haring. It was with Haring that he created his first disco installation, the cosmic closet, in their Times Square flat. The project grew into its present incarnation, a series of Cosmic Caverns, where guests are invited to immerse themselves in a hypnotic day-glow experience.
