It’s not good to worry about space

Rose Nolan makes banners from humble industrialised materials such as hessian, constructions from cardboard and paints slogans on walls. Her work pays clear homage to the modernist legacies of constructivism and its revolutionary aesthetics. The monumentality of her red and white banners is often at odds with their playful and antiheroic messages gleaned from everyday sources. In this case two banners are cut in half and installed across the room. Together they ironically make the sentence, ‘It’s not good to worry about space’.
