Piazzetta Riario Sforza with the Spire ofSan Gennaro

Gigante depicts a typical scene of everyday life in the ancient quarter of Naples. The scenographic square is near the Duomo, where until the second half of the century the main entrance to the church was open. The studied framing of the scene highlights the Fanzago Spire in the center, with the Baroque dome of the Capdella del Tesoro in the background, which naturally dominates the scene.
