A SCRAP CAMPAIGN, DESIGNED TO ENSURE THAT ADEQUATE SUPPLIES OF IRON AND SCRAP ARE FORTHCOMING FOR REARMAMENT PURPOSES HAS BEEN SET ON FOOT IN THIS COUNTRY. A LARGE AMOUNT OF SCRAP ORIGINATES IN THE SWINDON WORKS OF THE GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY COMPANY WHERE ARE TO BE FOUND OLD STEEL TYRES, OLD CARRIAGE TRIMMINGS ETC., OVER 100,000 TONS OF WASTE PRODUCTS ARE DEALT WITH ANNUALLY WHILE THE VALUE OF SCRAP SALES IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD OF HALF A MILLION POUNDS A YEAR.
