Once in a great while a war-themed game will appear during the actual time of the war. 2003's "Iraqi Most Wanted" playing cards are a 21st century example of this. However, game makers usually made war-themed games many years after the war happened. They appeal more, perhaps, to children brought up on grandparents' stories of the war, battles, or aftermath. And the horrors of the war soften as time passes. So games such as Singer's "Game of Drummer Boy" may refer to the Civil War, but Singer produced it many years after the war.
