FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE. VACCINATION PLAN.
As a possible weapon against foot-and-mouth disease, the Government is preparing a vaccination programme. Mr. Peart, the Minister of
Agriculture said he had arranged for a sufficient supply of vaccine to be acquired and stored in Britain as a second line of defence "should this become inevitable". The Ministry said that it was getting five million doses from British manufacturers producing vaccines on the Continent and in South America, and from the Animal Virus Research Institute at Pirbright, Surrey.
