Frankfurt am Main, Germany

The African Goliath Frog is a nocturnal inhabitant of a variety of terrestrial habitats. It is an accomplished jumper that retreats into deep holes when threatened. With a total length of more than 40 centimeters, the Goliath Frog is the world’s largest species of frog. Its diet includes insects and small vertebrates. Since the Goliath Frog is considered a delicacy in West Africa and is also frequently caught for zoos and the animal trade, it is now critically endangered.
