Overskirt of crochet in white mercerised cotton. Large scale three-dimensional crochet made to imitate the effect of raised Venetian needle lace. Separate motifs include floral sprigs, flower heads, leaves, and a variety of roundels are joined together by an irregular square mesh of linked chains decorated in places with picot-like loops. Motifs vary in size from 1.25 inches to 4.5 inches in length.

The skirt is made to shape with a small waist fitting close over the hips and flaring towards the hem, and extending in a train at the back.
