At two meetings of the Experiments Committees normal business was put on one side to signal the dawn of a new era. On Monday at the end of the meeting of the Track Chamber Committee the chairman, Prof. D. Colley presented to Prof. Ch. Peyrou from the Committee a complete set of works of the Basle 18th century physicist Bernoulli (in the original mixture of French and Latin) in recognition of his dynamic leadership of the Track Chamber Division over so many years. The following day it was the turn of the Physics III Committee enlarged by a good company of CERN staff to celebrate the Inauguration of SC-2 - the reconstructed synchro-cyclotron which is now off again with a new lease of life following the rebuild.
