Silvatta (Grinding stone)

Women would use the silvatta while being seated on a phatti, in a squatting position. Turmeric, chillies and other such spices are placed on the sil and the vatta is used to grind them. Sometimes, it is also used to prepare a variety of chutneys using several ingredients.
