American Red Cross; Call, Pearl M. [Carta] 1941 Sept. 16, Washington, D.C. [para] Candido Portinari, Washington, D.C. [inglês][datilografado]
Dear Neighbor:
At the request of Mrs. Joseph E. Davies, Chairman of the Residential Group of the Annual Red Cross Roll Call, I have agreed to serve as membership “captain” for our apartment house. Perhaps some members of your family will join through other channels, but in this national and international emergency it is necessary that very one be a member of the Red Cross.
As a member of the Red Cross you will have a share in one of the greatest humanitarian undertakings of all time. Red Cross represents and is composed entirely of the people of good will in every country. People in every station in life are the Red Cross because they – housewives, men and women in the business world, and those in public office – belong to and support the Red Cross.
The local program of
the District of Columbia Chapter has been enormously expanded. Read the enclosed leaflet and see how your Chapter is helping Service men and their families; how it is making millions of surgical dressing and thousands of garments and layettes; teaching first aid and always ready to handle local disaster emergencies.
Please fill out the enclosed leaflet, adding on the reverse side the names of other members in your family whose memberships are covered by the check you enclose. I will then send you membership cards, buttons and window stickers.
Thank you for your cooperation and interest in the Red Cross.
Sincerely
Name M. Pearl M Call
