At the Bizen Osafune Swordsmithing Workshop established to complement the museum visitors can watch two sword masters (accredited for the smithing of art swords) create swords. The workshop is like any typical swordsmith’s workshop and visitors can see with their own eyes how the masters temper tamahagane (steel made from iron sand or black sand), forge and quench harden blades among the flying sparks.
