In a factory at Teston, near Maidstone (Kent) is practised what can be described as a "typically
British" industry. For at this Kentish factory (Alfred Reader & Co) established 150 years ago,
cricket balls are made to be
used in "the national game".
PHOTOGRAPH SHOWS: 82-years-old HARRY MARTIN seen passing newly-made cricket balls through a gauge to ascertain they are all the correct standard size. Mr. Martin has been at this Teston (Kent) factory for 60 years.
