The Ringler Dugout is a 22-feet long boat carved from a white oak log by indigenous people of Ohio. It was manufactured with stone tools approximately 500 years ago and submerged in Savannah Lake, Ashland Co. where it was discovered in 1976 as the lake was being dredged. The dugout was carefully preserved over several years by CMNH staff and is now one of the most complete ancient watercraft in the country.
