In 1976, Mego launched a 12 �_ inch celebrity doll line to compete with Mattel's Barbie doll. Mego's early dolls included Sonny and Cher, with Bob Mackie designing an extensive wardrobe for Cher. The Cher doll quickly became the number one selling doll. After the great success of doll sales in 1976, Mego released two other Cher dolls and costumes.
