Though the name R. Barber appears on the opaque white plaque inside this glass gear shift knob, it was not created by him. Ralph Barber (American, 1869-1936) was an influential glassmaker from Millville, New Jersey. This knob may have been made as a commemorative or memorial piece in the 1930s, as many of these gear shift knobs were made to order by the Degenharts.
