Filigree belts appeared in the fashion of the Cieszyn region in the second half of the 19th century.They were in use until early 20th century. Primarily used for festive and ritual costumes in the Cieszyn and Jabłonków. Worn by both married and unmarried women. It was an important element in rituals, especially weddings, when bridesmaids wearing them danced with the bride and then participated in the capping ceremony.

  • Manufacturer: The author - Wiktor Pieczonka, born in 1927, had a jewellery workshop in Cieszyn, where he worked with his son, making elements of Cieszyn jewellery by following old designs. Trained by Franciszek Horak, whose works can be also found in the State Ethnographic Museum’s collection.
