A boy in the land of Lake Turkana Wind Power (LTWP), Marsabit County, Kenya. LTWP's permanent structures include 365 wind turbines, a substation and workers's accommodation. The remaining land, representing 99.8% of the project site, is open to the public and continues to be used by the local nomadic population for settlement, grazing of livestock, and access to water points. The turbines were installed one per day for a total of 365. Each has a capacity of 850 kilowatts. With a low-altitude constant jet stream blowing all year long from the Indian Ocean the plant has a 62% capacity factor.
