A Celestial Nymph

This female deity, known as a "lovely celestial female" or surasundari, originally shared its location on the exterior wall of a temple with other celestial figures. Balanced on her left leg, she raises her right arm to bind her long hair while a monkey pulls the thin garment from her hips. Richly ornamented, the surasundaris often display specific styles of jewelry, hair, dress and facial features that characterize their amorous nature and enigmatic grace.
