A charred palmetto palm remains after a brush fire is extinguished near Headquarters Building in the Industrial Area of NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The fire was ignited by a lightning strike.

The space center is nestled on the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, which is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
