Nana Kwadwo is an 18 year old digital photo manipulation artist from Ghana, Accra. His work is mainly centered around the expression of development in the Black experience and empowering African Culture. He factors in Afrofuturism and Afrocentrism in making his pieces whether it’s how his models are dressed, their accessories, or represented by items that surround them. His pieces are intended to put forward the message of creating brighter futures and realities where Africans thrive. This helps give his pieces in themselves an identity. Nana’s aim is to disseminate Africa as a young artist and send a message of our culture and our future to the diaspora.

The Gallon is the yellow plastic jerrycan that serves as a container for cooking oil before entering the society as a container for water. It’s one of those things so common it blends into the landscape, becoming invisible.
In this case it serves as a constant reminder of the tenuous state of access to basic needs.

Good water management is among the most crucial factors if Africa is to navigate an uncertain future. Water is essential for agriculture. With climate change causing drought in some parts of Africa, the need for water supply has also increased especially in the agricultural sector. Fresh water resources in Ghana are under threat as water resources are running dry and increasingly becoming scarce by the day.

In order to solve these problems , knowledge of the best agricultural practices developed elsewhere should be assessed and adapted for African conditions. Importantly, efforts and investments should be made by governments to help acquire existing technology to aid in the effective collection and preservation of water bodies. Initiatives should also be taken to ensure the effective collection of garbage and also the provision of recyclable bins in easily accessible areas to prevent civilians from disposing of their garbage in water bodies.
