  • Further Information: Wouwerman was the son of a painter. He probably first trained with his father and is said to have also studied with Frans Hals. Wouwerman evolved a personal style, specialising in landscapes with battles, military encampments and hunting scenes. He also painted a few biblical and mythological subjects.
