In the rural areas of Tibet, the civilian house is built with different material: the front wall is made of dressed stones, while the rest walls are made of adobe. The house has two stories: the ground floor is used as kitchen and meeting room and the first floor is used as bedroom and scripture hall, which looks bright and broad. The iron art gate is decorated with colored painting, where a head of cow is suspended on the top, and a huge national flag are flying above. One corner on the flat roof is decorated with prayer flags, while another five-starred red flag is placed on the other side.
The Jiedexiu town of Gongga county is one of the main farming regions in Tibet. The two-story house is dished, with an independent courtyard. There are several public wheat fields in different sizes in this region.
The dwellings of Jiangzi ancient city are adjacent to each other, wall bases are built with stones, and walls are built with adobes and stones. Bracketed roof girders and purlins are installed on the log-pillars indoor. The flat roof is paved with kaoliang stalks covered by soil and mud, which can be used as a drying stage. The courtyard is quite small, where the ground floor is divided into a storage room and a pen to herd the sheep and cows, and the first floor is used as bedroom and scripture hall.
