A Couple in a Landscape

Based on 'Couple in a Landscape' 1753 by Thomas Gainsborough, DPG 588 in Dulwich Picture Gallery. The Gainsborough painting is probably a marriage portrait although the couple do not look as if they are in love. They are not looking at each other or touching and Gainsborough has painted a dead tree between them. Stik's couple are equally disinterested in each other and are separated by a drainpipe.
