A few dye plants found in Kumaon.

Like most other crafts, the history of natural dyeing in India dates back to ancient times. The tinctorial properties of various dye plants have been known by the Indian artisans throughout the subcontinent. In Kumaon, it is the Bhotiya community that has been most actively involved in practising this craft.
