As a rare example of a working farm in the middle of a busy, urban environment, the CEF is often seen as an empty space. Contrary to this perception, however, these fields are not empty.

As they have since the Farm’s early days, the CEF’s scientists grow experimental grain and vegetable varieties, test crop-planting styles, and conduct long-term experiments to address major issues, such as climate change.
