This exhibition was created with the pondering thought of how would pop culture be interpreted by the natives of Mars? With technology, such as social media, advancing at an exponential rate, there’s definitely a possibility that our activity as whole could reach individuals in uncharted areas. "I constantly wonder how the current period of time, 2000’s and 2010’s, would be described in history books, especially when pertaining to popular culture" says Andre Jones. The artworks imagine if everything was appropriated by a group of individuals who were not of this world. The work will speak to ongoing societal issues relevant to appropriation, income inequality, sustainability, and pop culture.
Friday night can evoke a commonly felt sigh of relief. It can be a time to shake off the restrictive constraints of the work week and grant the chance to indulge in the less inhibited vices of life. This exhibition, opening on a Friday night, intentionally speaks to that feeling.
