Below is a photo taken c.1910 showing how dilapidated the grounds had become 35 years after the Toowong cemetery opened. One published letter in The Brisbane Courier, 1909, stated that ‘Some of the tomb stones looked as if they had been rolled into the street, while kids and goats gambolled over the last resting places of the dead’.
