This work depicts a Jewish cemetery in Czerniawy, currently located within the bounds of Kazimierz Dolny (Czerniawy Street). It was painted in the 1930s. The “framed” fragment of the cemetery shows matzevahs — headstones — against a forest background. Although the work as a whole is presented in light, pastel hues, use of the gouache technique intensifies the colours. There are two dominants: the matzevah in the foreground and warped trees, which disrupt the rhythm of vertical shapes. The artist did not emphasise the details, blurring the embellishments of the matzevahs. The vividness in focus here is just as important as the chosen theme. Signed in the bottom right-hand corner: Sichulski
