On this calendar page, the two small square miniatures at the bottom each relate to the month of April. On the left, a young man jauntily carries a leafy branch across a green field under a blue sky, all indications that Spring has arrived. To the right, a bull takes a peaceful rest under the same blue sky, its thin clouds represented by loose strokes of white paint. The bull is the symbol for Taurus, the zodiacal sign for much of April. Above the two miniatures, the feast days and saints' days for the month appear in alternating lines of red and blue.
